Class Descriptions

This is a description of each class offered at Christian Junior Academy.

The Discovery Class - Three Year old on or before September 01, 2008 (completely potty trained). The discovery class learns through play and and hands on activities. Each week is a different theme that includes language development, art and crafts, Bible stories, music, and simple games that provide the child the opportunity to learn in a fun, safe and nurturing environment. We share and model God's love throughout the day's activities.

The Adventure Class - Four year old on or before September 01, 2008. The adventure class incorporates various developmental skills through weekly theme units. Kindergarten readiness is fostered by centers and circle times that introduce alphabet and number concepts, recognition of simple patterns, sorting, cutting, and drawing. Curiousity is enhanced through science and discovery activities. The child is given opportunities to develop his/her social and emotional skills through imaginative play, sharing and interactive participation. An awareness of God is developed through Bible stories and truths.

The Bridge Class - Five year old on or before January 01, 2009. The bridge class will offer a little more structure than the other classes. The curriculum is developed around dictinct units that incorporate, on a daily basis, an introduction to the varied skills necessary for complete kindergarten readiness, thus bridging preschool to kindergarten. Through hands on centers and imaginative play, each day includes math, science, social studies, language art, and an interactive, instructional circle time. The Bible curriculum is a study of both Old Testament and New Testament stories that will teach the children biblical lessons that can be applied to everyday situations.

The Explorer Class - Afternoon class of mixed ages, three, four and five year olds. The Explorer class stresses social and emotional development through role-play, games, and interaction with other children. Circle time and various centers stimulate language and congnitive development through the use of stories, songs, and a variety of activities that include sorting, alphabet and number indentification, and art mediums. Integrated throughout the day are biblical truths that are learned through Bible songs and stories.
