Administration
Cheryl Arthur has a B.A. in English from Biola University & a Masters in Education from Northern Arizona University. She also has an Association of Christian Schools International Lifetime Certificate as well as an Arizona Department of Education Certificate for Secondary Education. Cheryl has worked at CAP for 10 years in both a teaching and administrative capacity.
Aubrey Peterson has a B.A. in Political Science from Arizona State University and a certificate in Foreign Policy and Terrorism. She has worked at the CAP for three years. She is the Administrative Assistant and the Association of Christian Schools International Coordinator for CAP.
Lissa Howard has a B.A. in Business from Arizona State University and is certified for dyslexic tutoring. She worked in the preschool for two years, and this is her third year tutoring dyslexic students.
Renee Keeling is beginning her fourth year as CAP’s Secretary. She is knowledgeable in all the functions of CAP and CJA. In the past she worked in the daycare program.
Elementary Teachers
Kindergarten - Arlene Claussen has been teaching for 34 years. She has been a part of the faculty at Christian Academy of Prescott since 1993. She has a Master Certificate in Nursery Education from North Orange County Community College, a Certificate of completion in Teacher Evaluation/Clinical Supervision in conjunction with the Professional Development program, two certificates for participation in workshops for Developmental Placement for grades K through third, and 5 ACSI Professional Continuing Education Unit Certificates.
First Grade - Kristen Poocha graduated for Northern Arizona University in December of 2007 with a degree in elementary education. Kirsten has taught in the Humboldt school district and this will be her first year at CAP.
Second Grade - Susie Dandos has an AA, B.S. in Education from Grand Canyon University, and a Master in Education from Northern Arizona University. Prior to becoming part of CAP’s staff, Susie taught in Phoenix for several years. She taught in the mid-high and this is her second year as CAP’s second grade teacher.
Third Grade - Jennifer Anderson graduated from the University of Arizona with a degree in Education and a major in French. She is currently attending Northern Arizona University for her master’s degree. Jennifer taught in a charter school for 2 years and we are excited to have her teaching our 3rd grade as will as French in our Mid high.
Fourth Grade - Sarah Benbow received her degree from California State University in Monterey Bay with a major in teledramatic arts and technology. Sarah taught in the International School of Monterey Bay and will be teaching our fourth grade as well as some drama in mid high.
Mid High Teachers
Social Studies- Judi Miller has a B.A. in Social Science from Boise State College. She has taught at CAP for thirteen years. She teaches Social Studies. This is her twelve year teaching the fifth grade.
Bible - Joshua Snyder has two years from Calvary Bible College and is CAP’s acting Chaplain. This is his second year teaching at CAP.
Math - Gwen Jahnke has a B.S. in Management from Arizona State University and has just completed a Certificate for Foundations in Christian Ministry from Moody Bible Institute. This is her ninth year teaching both Math and Language Arts for the mid-high at CAP.
Science - Paul McNett has a B.S. in Geography from Arizona State University and a Masters in Education from Northern Arizona University. This is his sixth year teaching at CAP.
Language Arts - Vonda Phelps graduated from Texas Wesleyan University with a double major in English and Spanish Literature. She has two master’s degrees from the University of Phoenix. Vonda will be teaching our mid high language arts classes.
Music - Clyde Score has a B.A. in Music from Prescott College. This is his second year developing a music program at CAP. He worked for fifteen years teaching music at Primevera. He is widely known in the Prescott community for his musical performances.
Physical Education - Lila Thelen has an Associates in Recreation from Fayetteville Technical Institute. This is her second year teaching P.E. at CAP.
Computers - Starla Thompson has an AA in Nursing. She has been teaching computers at CAP for four years. She is currently seeking her B.S. and attending Yavapai College.
Art – Meg Funk has an AA in General Education in the Arts from Pima Community College. This is her fourth year teaching art for CAP’s mid-high.
